Wahoo TRACKR HEART RATE Chest Strap Monitor

A chest strap remains the most accurate way to measure heart rate, and the TRACKR is Wahoo's current one. Rechargeable rather than coin-cell, over 100 active hours between charges, and it will hold ANT+ plus up to three simultaneous Bluetooth connections — so your computer, your training app and your watch can all read it at once without fighting.

That multi-connection ability sounds like a technicality until you train indoors. Running Zwift on an iPad while a bike computer records a backup and a watch tracks your daily load normally means one device wins and the others see nothing. This one feeds all of them.

Who this suits

Anyone training to heart rate zones, and anyone doing intervals where accuracy in the first thirty seconds of an effort matters. Chest straps respond faster and more accurately than optical sensors at the start of a hard effort, which is exactly when you want to know.

For indoor training it is the single most useful sensor you can add to a trainer, because your trainer already knows your power and cadence but nothing about the cost of producing it.

Who should look elsewhere

If you find chest straps uncomfortable or chafing, an optical armband like the TICKR FIT is easier to live with, at some cost in responsiveness. If you already own a working strap, this changes very little — a strap is a strap until it fails.

Frequently asked questions

Can Zwift and my bike computer both read it?

Yes. Up to three Bluetooth connections plus ANT+, which is the main practical advantage over older straps.

Is it more accurate than an armband?

At the start of hard efforts and during intervals, yes. Over steady riding the difference is small.

How do I stop it reading erratically?

Wet the electrode pads before you start. Dry skin is the usual cause of spiky readings in the first few minutes.

Can I wash the strap?

Handwash only. Rinsing sweat out after hard indoor sessions extends its life considerably.
