Wahoo ELEMNT BOLT 3 GPS Bike Computer

£299.99

The BOLT has always been the racer's ELEMNT, and the third generation keeps that brief. 84g, a compact 83 x 47mm body designed to sit tight and low on the bars, and a 2.3in high-contrast display that is bigger and clearer than the previous version without the unit growing.

There is no touchscreen, and that is deliberate. Buttons work with thick gloves, in rain, and when you are breathing hard enough that precision has left you. If you have ever tried to swipe a wet screen at 40kph you already understand the argument.

Dual-band GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0 and ANT+ are all present, so you are not giving up connectivity for the smaller size. 20 hours of battery covers any race and most long days, and it charges over USB-C.

Who this suits

Racers, fast group riders, and anyone who values a small clean cockpit. If your priority is reliable data you can read at a glance and controls you can hit without looking, rather than maps you can pinch and zoom, this is the right one.

Who should look elsewhere

If you navigate unfamiliar routes regularly, the larger screen of the ROAM 3 is worth the extra 25g and you will appreciate the touchscreen when route-planning on the move. If you want the biggest display available, that is the ACE. And for indoor-only training, your trainer already reports power and cadence.

How it compares to what else we stock

Against the ROAM 3: smaller and lighter, no touchscreen, 20h against 25h battery. Against the ACE: dramatically smaller and less than a quarter of the price bracket's screen area, but the same core GPS and connectivity. Against the Bryton S500: a similar compact brief for less money, with the Wahoo app and ecosystem being what you pay extra for.

Frequently asked questions

Why no touchscreen?

Buttons are more reliable in rain, with gloves, and at effort. It is a race computer and that is a race decision, not a cost saving.

Does it navigate?

Yes, it follows routes and gives turn prompts. The smaller screen makes it less comfortable for exploring than the ROAM 3.

Is the mount included?

Yes, an out-front mount for 31.8mm bars.

Will it control my trainer?

Yes, over ANT+ FE-C or Bluetooth, including resistance control for structured sessions.
