Wahoo TICKR FIT Armband Heart Rate Monitor
TICKR FIT reads heart rate optically from your forearm rather than electrically from your chest. For a lot of riders that is the difference between wearing a monitor and leaving it in a drawer — there is no strap across the ribs, no chafing, and nothing to wet before you start.
It runs 30+ hours on a charge, is IPX7 water resistant, and comes with two strap sizes so it fits properly on most arms. There is a physical on/off button, which sounds trivial and is not: sensors that wake on movement have a habit of being flat when you need them.
Who this suits
Riders who dislike chest straps, which is a lot of people. Also anyone doing long steady sessions indoors where comfort over two hours matters more than millisecond response at the start of an interval. It is comfortable enough to forget you are wearing it, which is the main reason data gets recorded at all.
Who should look elsewhere
If you do short, sharp intervals and want heart rate to track the effort precisely from the first pedal stroke, a chest strap like the TRACKR HEART RATE is measurably better. Optical sensors lag at the onset of hard efforts — that is physics, not a fault. Note also that it is not compatible with chest straps, so it is one approach or the other.

Frequently asked questions
Is optical accurate enough?
For steady riding and general training load, yes. For interval onsets and sprint efforts a chest strap responds faster.
Where should I wear it?
On the forearm, snug but not tight, a few inches below the elbow. Worn loose it will read badly.
Will it work with Zwift?
Yes, over Bluetooth, and with ANT+ devices.
Can I use it with a chest strap too?
No. Wahoo states it is not compatible with chest straps — use one or the other.
